Default First mahi catch!!

So I’ve been putting in a lot of research into mahi fishing this past offseason and my goal this year was to catch mahi and blackfin tuna. Well after seeing all the reports of mahi being so close to shore I thought this week would be perfect to go try before snapper opens up. Well within my first drift I had a whole school under my boat. I was the only one out today so it was a challenge to chum, bait, and fish so I was moving as fast as I could. After a few unsuccessful attempts I threw in some live pin fish that I had cast netted before I went out and they went crazy. I finally had my first mahi on the line. Very humbling and exciting moment to catch my first mahi. I ended up catching three all together before the school left. While they weren’t monsters it was very fun and awesome to catch these beautiful fish. Also walked out with a nice mangrove. Everything I caught today was free line. Zero bottom fishing. Just drifting baits.

Thanks for the report, I've been hoping with all the dry weather and Southeast winds they would be around.

awesome mangrove, if you didn't know leave 1 mahi on the line swimming near the boat the rest of the school will stick around so you can try to get them all. Great job

Glad you found some. The water was nice and clean a week ago and they were everywhere. I think things are starting to muddy up a bit though.
