Default Caught the unicorn fish

Had a great time seeing some old friends. Headed to the Edge Sunday in some sloppy seas. Got nicer as we hit 100 ft. Went to a spot I ran over a couple of years ago but never fished. Saw a good show and dropped down some mingo rigs. Couple of footballs right off. Headed back up current and dropped the hook.

Good decision. Steady mingo bite. Also had some mahi show up but they were skittish. Only caught 1. Next time I'll take some lite rigs with floro and smaller hooks.

Got 30+ mingos and a couple of scamp. Headed to the scamp hole to try for couple more. Got 2 great scamp and got rocked by gags or jewfish or some other sea monsters. Caught 3 CEARS in 280 ft of water.

Decided to troll in and eat lunch. Was about to pull in lines when my unicorn fish hit a rapala. Nice wahoo. First run smoked the reel, but then she came in easy. Until the first gaff hit. She pulled the gaff out of the mate's hands. Next gaff shot sunk it home. And the other gaff was still in her!

Ran in at 40 to following seas. Had a crab boil and fish fry. Great trip!
