Default When do bottom fish start moving in?

If the weather holds I'm going out for the first time in two months this weekend to do some bottom fishing. I'm trying to get an idea of how far I need to run. Have the bottom fish started moving in yet? I'm targeting red snapper, mingo's, and grouper if I can find them (although I haven't caught a legal one yet). What water depth should I target? Is there bait around the sea buoy still?

Thanks for the help.

Imo the further from the inlet you go the better the fishing. The Edge is south about 23 miles from pensacola pass 190ft to about 220ft (30ft) leadge that runs for miles its always has fish on it some times you will see about 20 boats ankored on it in a line.

Thanks. I'm fishing out of Destin, I guess I should have specified that, but we have the same ledge area about the same distance. I've fished it with success. I don't mind running that far, I just don't want to if I don't have to.

edge

Here are some numbers that will mark. Plot them, connect the dots and fish everything in between.
