What do you use for live bait this time of year and where do you find it?

When there is a decent weather window, we like to make a run offshore to catch mingo and scamp. Hard to find live bait for the scamp. Pin fish no longer around the dock, cigar minnows at the Mass buoy are not reliable, and finger mullet are scarce.

Thanks for the help!

Pinfish are in deep holes. Find a spot 7 plus feet and sink a trap. You will be amazed.
Hint: Sink the trap with a buoy then tie the buoy 2 ft down the line from low tide. You can snag it with a gaff.
Bodupp and GallantReflex like this.

Generally the close wrecks hold cigs and sardines this time of year, try the three barges.

Thanks for the suggestions! Will give the pin fish traps a try in the 7í+ water. Scamp love the pin fish!

I have gotten bait at the Three Barges numerous times. Usually catch ruby lips and small mingo. In my experience, not very good for scamp but better than nothing. Havenít ever gotten into cigs out there but will give it as well.

Was hoping to hear from the guy who caught bait for a couple of hours and then got a limit of scamp.
