I usually only troll 2 lines on top, and 2 on downriggers. Cheapest solution would be to hook a planner onto a cleat with heavy mono with a release clip on the bottom at you desired depth, will let you add a line or 2 to your spread without buying downriggers

First off:
What sort of lures are you running?
At what distances are they?
Are you turning alot, and if so how tight?

I used a teaser bar on one, a stretch 25 on another, and 2 spoons.
i dont know how to measure out but at least 40-50 ft of line i assume.
i did make one gradual turn but try to stay as straight as i can.

I've never trolled spoons, but I would venture to guess they were causing the tangles? If your going to troll something that likes to run crazy then you'll have to decrese number of lines or isolate that lure a bit more than usual. I've also had lipped lures like 25s and Rapala magnums do all sorts of crazy things. Seems like every lure runs a bit differently so you might just have to experiment and find the best combo.

funny thing is i have 2 planers that are pretty big but have no idea how to use them or how deep they will go. maybe ill post the dimensions. that would be awesome to save on the downriggers.

Can always try to set the lines at differing distances from boat by counting off "1missisipi" etc..

stagger the lines on the waves running off the back of the boat. if you do that when you turn the lures won't tangle.
