Yes, I have used some small ones bridle rigged. When I can catch some smaller ones I usually try and put one down on the down rigger as well. Not just wahoo but other large gamefish will eat them as well. I have a rig that I made up just for catching bonita that I drag behind the boat while I am trolling. I used a small planer attached to a long section of mono that attaches to the cleat of the boat. Behind the planer I have a series of pearl baby type jigs trailing behind. When a school of bonita comes up behind the boat and attacks the rig it usually fills up with a fish on each jig and trips the planer. I just leave them back there and let them trail along while we are trolling. The bonita trailing behind the boat acts as a teaser and they stay alive very well this way until we need one for bait. When I get ready for a live bait I pull the rig full of bonita up to the boat and get the first one I come to off of one of the jigs then let the rig back out. As long as you keep tension on the rig you should not have many escape.

I am about 5 hours away from Orange Beach where my stuff is but it is pretty simple. Just use about 30 ft of heavy mono and attach a small planer to one end and a snap swivel to the other. Attach a section of mono to the rear of the planer with some of the small pearl baby or any other type of small feather jigs with hooks in them on the other end like a daisy chain. I usually add about four or five jigs.

Ever have something big crash your Bonita rig as you're dragging them?
