Question Semi rookie looking for some help

I have fished our bays for years and just recently got a bigger boat and want to do a little offshore fishing or some cobia maybe, just looking for some pointers if anyone is willing,21' capehorn new electronics. I plan to go out sunday. Are our public #s worth looking at? I went to three barges and it didnt look like much on my machine, noir did we catch anything, how far off the beach would you look for ling? Just looking to have some fun with my money pit!!!!!! Lol thanx for any help

Most look for Cobia around the sandbars. As far as public reefs go, there production varies alot depending on how much pressure they get. 3 barges is a little close to be productive. Try some that are 10 or so miles out for better luck, like the Pete Tide, Freighter, Paradise Hole or any in that range. Good luck!!

go a couple hundred yards offshore and anchor up. Cobia will be along shortly to chech you out.

Paradise Hole can be found as it is a public number but is spead out over a wide area. You can go there and find a new spot just about every time. I landed my largest grouper to date there. Another suggestion is to always keep your bottom machine on when you are running somewhere. If you see something that looks interesting, stop and get a good mark on it.
