Default Rod Advice

I'm looking for a good king rod anyone have any advice? (cheaper is better) or what should i look for in rod for kings

A good king rod is going to have a fairly stout butt and midsection but a soft tip for throwing live and dead baits as well as keeping small trebles planted. Too stiff of a tip section and you pull more trebles.

Are you going to be fishing from a boat, pier, kayak or all of the above?
