Default Rigging to catch Kings

I've become somewhat decent with bottom species and with snapper season closing am ready to move on to kings. How do you guys rig for kings for both trolling and free lining near good holding areas offshore. Heavy mono or steel leaders? What pound test leaders? Best trolling lures and/or live baits?

I came up on a spot about 10 miles southeast a month or so ago and got cut off probably 5-6 times in less than 30 minutes so I assumed it was kings. That and a huge one came cruising by while we had to just stare knowing he would cut off any line we had rigged at the time. So I think it's way beyond time to learn about these toothy critters. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I've been having great sucess anchoring over live bottom and chumming. Throw out a fly line with a cigar or thread fin, action comes fast. We've caught all we want in 15-30 minutes of fishing. Sea-r-cy

for kings free lining and trolling with live bait i would us a steel leader with a stinger hook and a treble hook no mono. your best bait would probably be a tread fin or a cigar minnow i have also used mullet and it works well too.
