Default Rig south of ft morgan

Dont know the name of the rig but what i'm getting at is there was a rig about 25 miles due south of ft morgan/ di that i used to fish around on the way in from my private spots. I was told yesterday that it was gone, but i saw it before the spill closed things down. Has anybody on here that fishes out that way noticed one gone.

If it was a mobile drilling rig, then with the moratorium most of them were hauled off to sit. If it was a production platform, then the well may have 'dried up' so it was moved to a new well. How long was it there? Most drilling rigs will only be on a location for a few months and production rigs are dependent on how long the well produces but will be moved when the production stops or the well has to be reworked.

It's been there at least 4 years that I know of. Its a permanent rig that we dive a good bit. Not sure why they would have removed it but it may have dried up.

It may be that the well needs reworking. I think that falls under 'new drilling' which means until last week it was a no-go. Most of the smaller production platforms dont have the equipment to pull the pipe out and replace it so they pull it off while a workover rig comes in and does that. During that time the platform either goes to another well or to a shipyard for upgrades and repairs.

we were out that way Saturday and most of the rigs that were there pre spill are gone. they are removing them very quickly it seems; the ones closest to the light house (west side) are being dismantled now as well.

That may be just a coincidence. I think most of those wells were drilled at about hte same time which means they will either dry up or have to be reworked at the same time.

At least I HOPE that all it is. I havent been to work in more than a month while my rig was moved so Im way behind on the news out there.
