Default Questions about fishing the Tennaco

I'm thinking of making it all the way out to the Tennaco this saturday if the weather stays like they're predicting. Anyone been out there recently that can give me an idea of what's biting and what they've been using out there?

Plenty ofjacks. Watch out for the high relief. It's VERY easy to lose your rig. Try using a vertical jig if you want the jacks.

Aj'slove butterfly jigs!Diamond jigs workpretty well too.The snapper seem to love them if you bump it along the bottom. Just find the marked fishon your finder. I wouldn't drop all the way down because thats a gurantee that you'll get snagged. Drop it towhere you fishfinder says and jig it back up. If there hungry, you'll catch a mess of them.

although i've got a few, i've never actually fished the diamond jigs. how do you fish them b/c i'm assuming they're fished differently than the butterfly style jigs

go catch you some5 pound mingos and hook em to a 9/0 w/ 80 lb line and put it in the rod holder and hit the throttle when the rod doubles over. there are some bigguns on the tennaco. gotta have a bait big enough that the lil ones don't get it. i have dove that rig quite a few times and there are jacks on it that I WONT SHOOT!!!

good luck, post pics if you go

cheers

interesting...never heard of putting the rods in the holders and using the boat to pull them off the wreck just yet. i kinda like that idea...makes it easier when there's just me and another person to fish without holding the rods all the time. any other good live baits for that rather than mingos incase i can't catch those?? i know i've caught a boat load of croakers the past few weeks on the closer wrecks i've been fishing
