Default Overnight trip

I'm planning on doing an overnight trip out if Destin when I get home this time and I am not sure what or where to go!

I am going to try to pick two calm days and make the run. The most I have really fished out of destin is the liberty ship and such. Any suggestions on where to go? Maybe the edge?

Also, what fishing style do you use at night? I was considering trolling but I was told that it isn't any good at night. Is this true? Just fish on the bottom?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I wa going to bring a few friends and some gear (rods reels of course. Chum churn, trolling tackle.) anything else gear wise?

Thanks! Any fishing experience overnight would be great, spent many nights offshore as I work out here on a boat, just never any fishing.

I'd look for planning at a full moon or at least as much moon as possible.. under water light will help. Float plan made and let someone know about it. One person on wheel watch at all times.

Blaine go to the edge before dark find you a good spot that's marking fish and structure fish with a double drop rig for big mingos put a big bait down for grouper/amberjack and a fly line or two for king wahoo dolphin when the morning light hits have a rod with a top water lure and be on the look out for fish on the top

Thanks floater!! That sounds like a plan to me. I'm going to get some live bait together when I get home and go give it a shot. Do those bird teasers work well?

Blaine, I'm certainly no expert, but my experience with the birds has been positive. On a tuna charter to the rigs, they ran a big bird with a cedar plug behind it, and that rod stayed busy.

Rednecks-On-Holiday made a duh trip to the edge after that, and we pulled one of those bird strings with a small lure behind it. That rig was the shit that day. We caught mahi, blackfin, and barracuda on it.

Good luck and be careful.
