Default offshore bottom fishing

Whats standard main line test and leader test strengh for bottom fishing, aj, snapper, grouper, etc? I have always seen and read go lite for leader shy so they wont see it?? Well i think i am losing alot of fish especially a bigger fish! My brother is big on wire leader bottom fishing, i duno?? Maybe thats why we hardly ever catch grouper?? What do yall use?? thks

6-10 ft. of 60-100 lb. flourocarbon liter always works well for me. I've only used steel liter when trolling for kings. My $.02.

I've never used wire for bottom fishing. Unless we are getting broken off consistently, I am using 65-80lb. mono for leader.

For Jacks 100lb 8ft leader 14/0 Mustad Circle hook.For Red Grouper I use 100lb leader 13/0 Mustad Circle hook.....For Gag I start with 60lb with 11/0 and go from there.....Gags always seem to be a little more finicky to me.....unless your in deep water...over 150ft.
