Default Nipple/131 Hole

What's the water look like out there? Probably going to run out there Wednesday. I'm guessing there's still alot of debris floating around?

I'm still learning how to read these, but if I'm looking at the chlorophyll shot from today. Is there a patch of blue water 95-98 nm due south? And is the black shot just clean green?? Any info is appreciated.

Do you run out to the nipple in your 20' boat?

We went out to the nipple and trolled back and forth to the 131 Hole. Caught nothing!!! There was no debris to be found anywhere. The water was as smooth as glass all the way out. We went out in our 236 Sailfish and had nothing but smooth sailing. There were several schools of bonita on the surface but they wouldn't hit anything either, the kids tried deperately. The coolest part of the day was seeing a 40' Whale Shark come to the surface as we were trying to catch the bonitas. That made the trip out well worth while.

Saturday was also terrible. Going out was beautiful with slick waters from 0530 to 1500 hours then a very little SW flow started. Of course this has nothing to do with Wednesday. The seas look dead with not much sign of flyers, bonito, ect. There were some but far below average.

Closer in around the Edge area the current was well above normal. With not much top water activity either. I assume the full moon was in full affect.

My dad and I were out that way Saturday. We messed around getting the outriggers out while watching the Lady EM and a 25 foot center console jockey for position on the east corner of the edge. It was clear where Mike was heading. The center console hurried ahead and threw anchor while the Lady Em was just pulling up to the spot. The poor guy didn't anticipate the current and was no where near where he wanted to be. The Lady Em made what looked like three sucessful drops catching Ajs every drop before the guy ever got his anchor back in. Anyway we proceeeded to troll the edge. Naturally the water was dirty then got greener as we got further out. Caught a 20lb dolphin about 30 minutes in. She hit a purple islander/horse ballyhoo on the downrigger at 60' down. Caught one more cow about 15lbs again on the deeper downrigger same color just north of the 131. Thanks to a bird we found a pallet floating just below the surface between nipple and 131 it had two nice tripletail on it but I couldn't get to them for the cobia they were all just under size. Saw some decent size yellowfin jumping but they weren't interested. About five decided to head north the old man was tired so we continued and ran over a mark that I have caught some wahoo around. Just past the drop the 30' downrigger went off and yielded a nice wahoo. Not a great day but considering the conditions I was happy.

Nice job! The fishing has been tough offshore this summer because of
the excess river water. We have fished planers and have only caught
Bonita and small sharks.Hopefully it will clear up and the surface temps
will cool down.Tight lines!!
