Default night fishing

I've got to work all weekend but I was considering taking a bottom fishing trip tonite. Does anyone know if ARS/grouper bite at night?

most of the time they will....on a full moon it is better...just keep a eye on the wx...things can get nasty quick at night with no radar

Yes they bite well at night. We usually go with a good smelly dead bait over live bait at night though.

Check the weather closely. I love to fish at night during the summer.

Reds, mingos, and mangove (aka black) snappers bite well at night - I use to think I needed a full moon, but I recently got into bull mingos with no moon.

I have had schoolie kings become a problem on a full moon -even got AJs and almacos at night on dead baits.

Trigger, scamp, gags seem to shut down at night - which can be an advantage when targeting snappers. I have gotten snowys and cusk eels out at the edge and deeper in the dark.

I like night fishing - with fewer boats out, less issues with getting 'run up on' I tend to anchor rather than run & gun in the dark.

Brush up on you night time navigating - a good radar, and chart plotter are a plus , and keep a sharp lookout- particulary around the pass and ICW for other boats.

Have fun and post the reports!
