Default New Jigger in town?

Well, getting ready to move to LA,,, Lower Alabama,,, first time in my life I'll be more then 10 miles from the coast... Leaving Central FL. and heading up there... Anyhow.. I am a very serious V. Jigging fisherman... and when I do make the 80 mile trip to lauch my boat in Pen. or Destin, I was wondering if V. Jigging is a big thing up here? And what can I exspect to see as far as mahi, AJ's, BFT, ???? are they here in good numbers and size? I'd love to meet with fellow die hard Jiggers out there and start net working with you... basicly starting over in a new location and new numbers... sucks for me,, but that's part of the game.... the game I love. Shoot me a PM and I'd love to exchange ideas, stories, and I'd love to take anyone on the boat with me....

Cheers,
Mark

I love vertical jigging, it works. If you have the means to make long runs (~75 miles) from Pcola to the rigs, you can definitely make it happen. Big ajs, blackfin, yellowfin, grouper. If not, shoot me a pm and you can ride out with me sometime. I love having people aboard who are serious about fishing.

The PFF is a good place to find like minded sportsmen and sportswomen. I usually bottom fish with cut bait or use live bait. Every now and then I will see a lure in the tackle shop that excites me and I buy and try. By V jigging I think that you mean deeper water drop of the lure. I haven't tried that but I bet there are those on the forum that have or are willing to try it out. The GOM has plenty of the Amberjack, Mahi, Grouper, Snapper and the coastal area has lots of reds. Unfortunately as you know we can't always catch them at certain times of the year.

I am curious where in Alabama you will drive from. When I go over to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab I see a lot of fishermen launch across from the lab. Would that be closer for you?

Every time we go offshore, that's basically what we do, is jig. The WHOLE day, jacks, snapper, grouper, what ever. Panhandle is a great place to jig.

Panama City is a lot closer to Dothan than Pensacola if I'm not mistaken...
