Default Lowrance Structure Scan

I am considering purchasing one of the new Lowrance Structure Scan Units and was wondering if anyone has used these for offshore fishing. They seem to work very well in shallow water and the Lowrance Tech said that they would work in depths of 300 ft for the down scan sonar and 100 ft for the side scan sonar. Anyone have any experience that they would like to share?
Thanks,

The main limiting factor for how far you can look out to the sides is depth. In 8 feet of water, I was looking 30 feet off to either side. In 15 of water, it jumped out to 60 feet. Once it went over 20 deep I could see about 90 out, and in deeper water it quickly hit the 150 per side maximum.
