Hay guys just started off shore fishing and wanted to fiber out what pound test to use on rigs for snapper, grouper, trigger, and amber jack. Also what are some good luers for dollfin. Any other suggestions for for bottom fishing would greatly appreciated.

Use fluorocarbon leader if you can afford it. It is not a must. For Trigger use 20 to 30 lb test. For the others you mentioned use 30 and up. Try to catch your Snapper on top. You will catch largers one that way. Make or buy chum and your fishing will fun will be allot more productive. I use allot of chum and catch most fish on top using spin tackle except for Grouper.
Since you are just starting out try this.
For Dolphin it's best to find a weedline and use live or cut bait. If you are trolling, there are hundreds of lure selections. Blue and white iilanders with Ballyhoo are the standard bait. For less expensive trolling use Moldcrafts soft head. I have hundreds of lures and can give you some to start with and show you how to setup everything so will get them to the boat.
