Default Kingfish question.

Are kingfish consitant on wrecks and structure about 20+ miles offshore. I've caughten plenty on wrecks that are within 5 miles of the beach by just drifting kingfish rigs, but will they still be out there in 100+ft of water?

Yea u can find them out in 100+ water. They r just spend out more out deeper. In close u will get a lot more of ur schooling kings, the smokers r there also. I find the smokers in deeper water a lot more.

I have always found that it is easier to catch kings closer in because the bait concentrates better. Kingfish can be found way off shore as long as the reef or wreck that you are fishing is holding bait. Being a pelagic fish, it is going to travel to find food sources. Hence the reason that large offshore reefs and rigs hold more kings (due to the concentration of bait). JMHO
