Default King rigs!

Alright, so I've been searching the internet and the forum and am getting conflicting info on what type of rig to use. I'll have a spinning rod with 25lb and a conventional with 20lb mono. I'll use a single circle with a treble stinger most likely, but I'm confused as to what #wire and hook would be best. Also if a swivel is necessary, or if i should tie the mono straight to the leader. Last one, if I'm using a duster what's the best color. Lots of questions, but I'm planning a shopping trip and don't want to get a bunch of the wrong stuff.

Thanks

I like a small wire leader maybe 18'',maybe around 40 pounds or so. 2 treble hooks one hooked thru the nose of the bait and one towards the tail. pretty simple rig. spinning rod, drift line behind the boat.

For kings I like to use 90# coffee colored wire. I also prefer a little live bait hook and a 4X treble stinger. I like a red sea witch or duster. It is easier to use a small swivel, but it isn't necessary.

I use 27lb or 60lb SevenStrand Steel..DONT use 40!..You can use 18inches to 3 feet..Use a smaller swivel because I have seen kings and spanish attack bigger swivels..I would use a sharp treble hook also to match your bait..Eagle Claw,Owner and Gamakatsu make great treble hooks...So swivel, steel, then treble hook and you can add a stinger..One in the nose one in the back for hardtails/menhanden..I like blue shiny dusters..

^ ^ & some of our live bait King rigs have small swivel, #4 wire OR 60lb 7 Strand, live bait nose hook, then 2 eagle clawtrebles.

I like pink, pearl, and bluedusters (love C&H king busters).

Thanks all. So no one really uses the straight, single-strand wire?

I prefer single strand just make sure you put haywire twists on there or you will be sorry.

spro swivels. They are the strongest and smallest great for kings. I use 50 pound but they are tiny so you may want 80 pound. I use 27 pound 7 stand and eagle claw number 2 treble hook for the nose and number for treble for the back. That is all i use. I have caught a 45 pound king off of that exact set up. I generally use about a 30 inch leader also.

im going to try the tooth proof. I used single strand for years and it worked fine for me i just like the limberness of 7 strand. It makes it easier for the bait to move around better.
