When I build my king rigs(thanks to the rain I built 17 today), I use a 1/2oz jighead as a stinger. I make sure my second and third wire have good movement. I find the jighead helps it be more aerodynamic. I tend to also flex my dead bait's body a bunch before rigging too. I like to test it beside the boat before finally letting it fly. Never fails for me and I rarely get a twisty spinning bait.

Go see Steve at Dizzy Lizzys. He makes a great King Stinger rig.

I use pirate plugs from http://southchathamtackle.com/Pirate_Plugs.htm

Love them and have had success off NC and the Panhandle with them.

Here's the pic. Works wonders for me. I mostly troll bigger baits like ballyhoo for kings, but I use on thawed out cigs too

all ive used last 3 years stretch 25 and 30,s kings, snapper grouper, red fish, spanish. try green white, silver black or close. you will only probally be able to run 2 stretchs without tangling, i run a duster/spoon in middle way back for 3rd rig
