I haven't fish out of Destin in a while and I am take nine the in-laws on Thursday out bottom fishing. Is Jughead still selling bait in the pass every morning?

Thanks

When he has it, he has had a hard time many days this year to keep up. In other words it is not a guarantee. Better to get some fresh dead cigs and squid too. Be prepared and chicken rig for some on the spot live bait.

We have been out four times since snapper season opened and all four times he has had nothing for bait. I would recommend taking some frozen like mentioned above and bring some sabiki's with you so you can jig up some live bait. There is bait around but you have to work for it. We have been doing well loading up with threadfins. The red snaps have been loving them!

Thanks Salty, I'm going to put the boat in at Marler Park. Do you think I'll run into them on the way to the pass?

You can check to see if he has bait on channel 69. Good luck on your fishing trip.

There was about 30 boats catching them on the left entrance to the pass from Niceville side the other day. Just where the no wake zone starts on the east side of crab island.

yes, When you first enter the channel next to crab island and come to the no wake zone. We have been finding bait pods from there all the way out of the pass. We have learned to try to make bait in this area rather than outside the pass. It is a little calmer than rocking all over the place due to idiot yahoos blazing by right next to you out of the pass. a lot of people not caring what their wake does. Anyhow, we have been sabiki'ing a lot of bait in this area. just look for the pods of bait and follow them.

JugHead was almost at the Ft Walton pier over the weekend.
Call him before you leave the pass. As many said in earlier post it has been tough for him to keep up this year.

Bait was much easier for us this weekend. Caught all the cigs and thread fin we wanted on the west side of the pass. Never head to leave.
Keep your weight bouncing off the bottom to catch the cigs. Also avoid braid or other types of casting line on your rigs. We had two with mono and two with braid. The two with braid did not hook a single cig. The two with mono pulled up 4-5 at a time.

Good Luck.
