Default Impact ridiculous red snapper regs now

We can all have a short term positive impact on the ridiculous red snapper regs that we now have by doing the following: If one of NMFS dockside fish surveyors asks to count and measure your red snapper, politely decline if you have any red snapper over 3 lbs. NMFS uses this data to determine our seasons and the larger the "average" fish, the quicker they compute that our quota will be reached and the shorter our seasons become. Its human nature to want to show off big fish but restraint in this regard will result in meeting our quota slower. Long term, continue sending letters to your senators and reps and go to the NMFS hearings and protest the regs.

That's a good idea. But I doubt those in the know find it easy to be polite

Over 3 lbs? That's like what an 18" snapper? Personally, I throw those back since we only get 2... its not worth it.

Default May backfire....

"We don't have any to show you"
could be interpreted as
"There aren't any snapper out there"
= "No snapper season"

There is no interpretation of "data". The data is collected and put into the NMFS's screwed up computer models. Small fish or no fish = reach quota slower. Bigger fish = reach quota faster. These are facts from the NMFS. This also goes for grouper, AJ and every other fish the NMFS is "regulating".
