Having Trouble Catching Bait! Tips?
Been offshore quite a bit so far this season, and no luck with catching bait in the pass on sabiki's. I have an 8ft cast net with one inch mesh, and that doesn't seem to get the menhaden. Any menhaden hot spots around? Any tips on catching bait around the pass (hardtails, etc..)? Pinfish tips welcome too!!! Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Best of luck!

I always catch my bait on the tide line. If you run across the bay look for the tide pushing in or out and use a sabinki rig. You will catch bait. Lots of thread fins and plenty of other bait in the line! Hope this helps. Good luck!

cast nets are designed for shallow water, if you can find a school on the flat and you have a cast net it shouldn't be a problem. If the bait outside the pass isn't biting try tiping your sabiki with squid or shrimp. The end of the dock at the destin marina has a small reef on it and I've never had a problem catching pinfish there. Also if you are baitfishinf outside the pass trolling a spoon around will usually get ya some hardtail and bonita which both are top baits. Hope this helps
