Default Gettin Rigged for Jigging

Ok, at the PCC members trusted recommendations, I calledOutcast, talked to Anthony, and got a sweet "better than E-Bay" deal onDiawa Saltist 30th reels andTVC66H rodsfor me and two of my fishing buddies from MS and TX... Great folks to recommend rigs and set up.

I've been trolling/down riggingribbon fish, etcand bottom fishing with live bait for about 5 yearsrunningand we're now gonna give this jigging thing a serious go. I caught a few nice fish last year on 3 oz white bucktail jigs, but my technique was not at all like what the video clips show me how to work the jig.So I plan on"gettin jiggy wid-it"I''ll share my current Jig inv with you. I have 1 Bass prodancing stinger jig in blue mackeral (3 oz), 3 Braid gators [email protected](chromeflash?)and [email protected](green), some 8 oz Chrome Diamond jigs and a handfull of smaller 1.5 to 2 oz junk jigs. I've got most all them rigged with stinger hooks wider than lure body as recommended.

So, from you serious jigging guys out there, give me an idea of your top 3 go-to jigs, sizesand colors (if you dare!) when you hit your favorite spots.

I'm from TN, and my pals are from MS and TX, so we only get down to fish 3-4 times a year if we're lucky....so we promisewe won't put emormous pressure on the population. But we would love to have the optimum baits when we drop 'em down.I fish out of PC but I've only been to edge 2 times and don't have it down just yet in the 175-200 zone my goto spots are closer in like near around Pete Tide area...we have some nice spots out of Dauphin Island in 100 ft water. We love a good AJ pull...what jig is candy for them. I would REALLY appreciate recommendations.

I'm retired and have a Triton 22LTS center console w/225 Honda....Ill go anywhere in good weather!!! And run like hell when it turns bad!

If you want the best jigs, get some shimano butterfly jigs. It's hard to match the action of those jigs. My favorites are the williamsons because they are $8 vs $20-25. For colors, it doesn't matter that much. Pink/Silver and Green/Silver are the ones I like, but all colors will work when you get on some fired up AJs.

I agree with True-King.

Shimano works best but costs. Williamson works great and I don't getviolently ill when I lose one.

I stick with the green and silver or blue and silver. I've never seen a pink bait fish but those would be my No. 3 color choice.

Its hard to pick 3 favorites since there are so many good jigs on the market, but those 3 day in day out always produce. You can get those tormentors in a smaller 7 oz. size as well and they are deadly on AJ's as well. Williamsons are also good jigs but I don't use them or other long style jigs on tuna as much cause my hookup rate goes down.

I'm glad anthony and outcast hooked you up, not only are they great people, but its a great company to have around when you need something (advice, bait, line, etc.) and without our support they wouldn't beable to keep the doors open.

I believe the Shimano jig is the best and my favorite is the 150 gr blue and white regular jig. I have since found some Shimano style knockoffs that haven't missed a beat. I can buy 10 of these for the price of 1 Shimano rigged and I slay the fish on them as well. If you would like the link to the knockoffs pm me and I will give it to you.
