Default Gag Grouper

What is the best bait, some good specific public spots (please), and a silly question: when does Gag season close?

Thanks

Best bait for me is a 5" croakers. Fish south side of bay and look for small lumps on bottom in 55' of water. Hang on.

Sedge here's a good matrix for seasons. Oct 31 for Gag.

You probably won't find many Gags on the close in public spots. There are some. What aren't caught are probably shot. Usually out past the edge where they don't get as much fishing or diving pressure. Most will tell you big live bait. There are spots in the Bay also but they are are guarded as TOP SECRET SQUIRREL!

What is a general yet slightly more specific area? I don't know of any places in the bay of that depth (I am a newbie).

Thanks for the help

I can say for sure that they are in the Bay. Where? Not going to say.

I dont know anyting about that area, so I cant tell you where.
You can do one of two things
1 Go to Academy and get a Florida Sportsman nautical chart for the area. It has depths marked on it.
2 Go to NOAA site and download nautical chart for area. It will have depths as well.

All the gags I have ever caught were on cut bait from Ruby Reds.
