Let me know how you do getting in and out of the Pass. Gonna be there for a week or two and may try to get out if weather/oil allows.

Default Open/Closed Gulf

Pretty easy area to figure out. You have to be EAST of the Pensacola Beach Ball; and you have to be in STATE WATERS (less than 9 miles out). Anything other than that is catch and release only.

Pensacola Bay and inland waterways are open to fishing. Go slow around workers and booms.

Default p'cola beach ball

How far is it from the pass to the pensacola beach ball?

Is there a lot of oil in the water? Is it worth it?

thanks

JDM,
I was out this weekend east of the beach ball (which is about 7 miles east of the pass) and didn't see a swig of oil. The oil has moved west thanks to Alex last week. However, I expect the west winds we are having will push it back our way. If youv'e got time to go this week, do it while you can.

Reel, really appreciate the reply. I can't get out until Friday so will try to keep a close watch on it. Went a few days beofre they closed the state waters past the beach ball and really had a good trip. Only went out about six miles and limited on quality snapper. Some strange things happening out there, had a hard time getting bait past the spadefish and caught a 36" Aj . Never caught that size this close in before. Don't know if they are running from the oil or moving in because there is no pressure on them.

thanks again
