Default Fishing advice please for vacationer in Perdido, bringing own boat from Texas

Taking our Mako with us for family vacation in Perdido.
Am I in the right forum for info regarding fishing the gulf out to 5-7 miles?
Equipped to troll with downriggers, and if calm will tie up to platform to please the family.
Just curious if I can stay within 5 miles and catch a diverse assortment?
Love to keep some Dorado, Wahoo, Cobia. Any grouper, sailfish, or tarpon to be seen/caught?

Not asking for secret spots, just a few pointers.

Thanks

If your talking about an oil platform, we don't have any in Florida. There are a multitude of fish you should be able to catch 5-7 miles out.

Fellow Texan here whose parents live in Spring, lol. Those species you seek seem to come up quite a bit in the Navarre, Destin area. I live on Perdido Key and those species are hard to come by here.

5-7 miles should be good for all the above, head straight out the pass and keep your eyes open. Guys catching sails, cobia, and kings ect. from yaks closer and if you have a decent bottom machine you will be good to go for the bottom dwellers.

Make sure are are properly Licensed, as you will be fishing on the Florida Alabama state line area. And you do need both, if you are going to cross over from one to the other, while fishing.

Enjoy our backyard!!!

Like stated above no rigs in FL. Cobia will be hit or miss, don't really count on sails or wahoo that close in. The yakers have caught a couple out of Navarre but you hardly ever see boat reports of them. Schoolie dolphin is a very good chance, look for weed lines. Tarpon is about like wahoo and sails, I wouldn't put any effort into targeting them. They are not thick like a lot of people think they are as they are in Central FL. Also if you do luck up on a tarpon remember you have to have a tag to posses them.

Is the above quote correct, if so exactly what is the magic boundary for FL/Al?federal waters. I guess because i usually fish so far out i have not really thought about it plus have always worked on the assumption of what port i depart from and return to, but i catch kings in close and actually thought of an inter coastal run to Pensacola with a near shore troll back to OB.
