Default Finding new bottom spots

We will be trolling the nipple area this weekend as well as looking for new bottom spots while we troll.

My question is this...To find new spots, do you guys look for stucture or depth change, if depth change, is it like 3-5 ft or more.

I'm still trying to find a good Grouper hole.

Thanks for the help
Kevin

Maybe the Nipple area will be open this weekend but as of today it is still in the closed area for fishing.

kevdog, you'll know it when you see it, if you can, set the sonar to zoom on the bottom, and keep a close eye on it, immediately, when you see anything out of the ordinary, mark it as a waypoint then come back later when you're not pulling everything under the sun behind the boat. You'll see all kinds of stuff, wrecks, rocks, ledges, . good luck

Agree with bombtosser; I have found plenty of spots while trolling or even running to a fishing area. On my raymarine, I keep the fishfinder screen on 3x bottom zoom and split screen and finger ready to hit "waypoint" at any indication of habitat on the bottom.
