Default dolphin season?

I know it's getting ready to e cobia season but, for some reason, I was thinking about dolphin. When do they get thick enough offshore to target them?

FWIW, I've had some great fun with them on flies but seems like it's always August or so. How early are they out there in appreciable numbers?

TIA.

They usually start gathering in late may. Dependant on water temp. 75 degs and above is best.

Thanks Cuz...

As you can see from my username, I'm a flyfishing nut...or is that redundant (G)

The times I've caught them on flies have been when we stumbled onto them. This season, I was thinking about maybe trolling along grass lines until I found them and then break out the light tackle.

Do you have any general suggestions for what I might troll with?

Thanks again.

June is a great month for Dorado. That's when the grass is coming in. I have caught them on all kind of stuff, even little guys on large marlin lures. Trolling ballyhoo is your best bet.
