Default Destin Shark Fishing

I need a little help please. I will be taking my boat to Destin the week of Labor Day for vacation. I have fished out of Destin in at least a decade. My 8 year old nephew will be tagging along for the first 4 days and has his heart set on catching a shark . I generally go out my way to avoid sharks, so if anyone can tell me a nearshore area known to hold small sharks (3Ft or so) you would make an eight year olds week. TIA for any and all help.

little and big spinner sharks are usually all over the place just west of the jetties. I don't think it would be too difficult to get a bite if you soak baits and chum.

Most ledges and artificial reefs also hold a few sharks each this time of year.

West jetty is an almost sure bet for blacktips.

West Jetty. Exit the pass and head West until it's calm enough for y'all to handle. Start chumming and you'll them swarm

Thanks guys, I'll try the west jetty and chum a little. Hopefully I can make my nephews dream come true. In his mind he thinks we are going 100 miles offshore

How far off the beach do you anchor to avoid attracting sharks near the beach? Are the sharks on that bar all day long or only near dusk and dawn?

The sharks are already there, and always will be. If you are at a safe distance for boating, you will be fine. Don't be the jackass that runs his boat inside the "swimming" zone and makes all fishermen look bad....
