Default Destin Pass?

Anyone know if the East Pass is open or not? Planning on heading out Saturday. From everything I've read, I don't think it will open until around noon (high tide is 12:38 PM). I saw a post with a number that I called but it went straight to an answering machine. Any help is appreciated...

Default RE: Destin Pass?

I drove by this morning around 6:30 and there were already boats out on the bar outside the pass getting bait. I also have been having a hard time calling numbers to find out who is in charge.....

I believe they are leaving it open as long as there is no oil in the area, so I would not pay attention to the high tide thing and listen up on Ch 16 and press on early in the morning.

Just did some checking again and got a real person. Best number to call is (850) 689-5757, which is Okaloosa county communications center. They said the pass will be open until further notice and is supposed to remain open as long as the winds keep the oil away from the pass, at least through Saturday pm.

You can also call okaloosa public safety office, 850-651-7150

or the Destin Coast Guard station 850-244-2682. The Coast Guard will refer you to the above number, okaloosa public safety.
