In shallow water, I use a 10' 1pound per foot net. Over 5 feet deep, I use a 10' 2 pound per foot net...same net I use on herring and threadfins.

Thare are at least ten big castnets hung in the Mass. Every year at least that many are lost. They are tore up so bad the only thing salvagable is the lead line.

Cast net leads are high dollar items.

That works. With a 12 Net it takes 2 people to pull it up.

The leads run about 3 bucks a pound. 30 bucks for a 10 foot 1 pound a foot line, 45 for a 1.5, 60 for a 2 pound a foot lead line.

And that's when it's empty!
