Default Carrebelle info

Need any/all fishing info I can gather before Oct snapper season. Hope to get there at least a couple days during the upcoming snapper season. Any info would be greatly appreciated concerning anything else I can target while trying for snapper, bait needed, bottom rigs. What can I hope to find on reefs within @ 20 miles? Do I need to bring downriggers? What can we find trolling @ 20 miles. Any special bait?

Marinas or lodging in the area for fishermen, no wives this trip.

Thanks for anything you can share.

Will public reefs be a good place to locate anything besides other boats?

I would not go to Carrabelle if you are after red snapper. I fished there for years. Grouper fishing is killer around the man made structure and natural limestone ledges in 35' - 45' of water in the fall. You can troll some stretch 30's at around 6-7 knots and find the Gag's. Buy a chart and fish the stuff off of Dog Island and out from Alligator Point.

East pass between dog island and St George island has a mix of everything. West pass at Bob Sikes cut which departed St George and little St George holds monster reds and some decent grouper. As for the palegics idle as i fished St George for years but was never lucky enough to cover that area by boat. All standard baits, live and artificial work well all around the islands though.
