Default Bonita?

I want to target some bonita on light tackle. A lot of times I will see schools of them busting a few miles of the beach and I have no trouble catching them then, but I would like to know how to catch them when there are no visible fish. Are there any lures I can troll on light outfits to locate the bobos like a small diving plug, or is there another more effective tactic for finding light tackle bonita?

I have only caught 2 bonito here in florida. both inshore, both random, and both on gotcha's. gives a 6ft rod and 10lb test a nice run.

Crushed them about 35 miles offshore on a weed line trolling. They were not what we were out there targeting but fun to reel in.

Small dark colored tuna feathers work really well trolled way behind the boat. Small to medium sized Rapala x-raps and Yozuri crystal minnows are pretty good as well. Bubble rigs usually work well also but I have never tried trolling them (only casted them).

Bonita will eat anything small trolled. The trick is to find the schools. Find the bait
