Just wondering at what point the pinfish and such move back into the shallower water. Will that happen by March or does it not happen until much warmer temps. Just curious as I plan to start heading back out around March and was getting pretty good with my cast net last summer.

You can still catch pinfish right now by hook and line or setting traps in the deeper parts of the bay and bayous, however, it will be probablylate March/April before they get back into the shallow water. Good luck

Thanks for the response. I need to get one of those high speed pinfish traps that were listed on the board here about six months ago. They look like good ones. Now that hunting season is winding down I cant wait to get back on the water.:usaflag:usaflag

I've always found them in deep holes around/near bridges and if you drop bait down to them they're pretty darn hungry! Just idle around watching your fish finder and when you get a drop in depth you'll see the hole light up and they'll be there. I've stumbled on some gator trout dong this before too since they like the pinfish in particular for themselves.
