Default 6-27 What bill fish at Fun Ledge?

I head out of the Destin Pass to Fun Ledge and while out there I see a school of Bonita. I get my light reel with a buck shot and cast it out and get a hit. I fight it for about 15 seconds and something crest out of the water and hits the bonita on my line.

Line starts to sing but eases up a bit and I see a 4-5 foot bill fish fly out of the water. He kindly said hello and quickly said goodbye. I held on for dear life but before we could turn the boat to follow it the line snapped.

I don't know what it was. So I am wondering which bill fish might be that far or that close depending how you look at it?

Thanks.

sailfish are right on the beach to who knows how far and there's whites being caught "inshore" as well.

Now that I think back I did see a lot of dorsal on that thing. I need to switch back to mono on my spinning rods.

Is there a limit on size? Didn't find one on the FWC list.

I think them minimum limit is 57"(lower jaw to fork) for sailfish. Can anyone confirm that?

Saw that for swordfish but not for sail. You need a freaking degree to keep up with these regs.
