I would go with the HPS like i mentioned before. The MH and Halo's are both very power hungry lamps compaired to the HPS lamps and they are the best light color spectrum for murky water.The Halos and MH are both a crisp bright white light therfor you will have glare in a rippled water way more than the HPS lamps will give off.Hope this helps.

see you are conserned with amp draw. when comparing a 400w hps-mh there is little difference . a 400 hps startup draw on 120v 3.10, run 3.90, total watt draw 465. a 400 mh startup- 3.25 opperating, 4.00 run, total 458watt.. these is off the appleton light web sight which is the lights i use. so worrying about that is really not that big a problem.

Question: the math formula for amps is wattage/voltage= amps, so why don't this formula work out on the hps lights?
