Default First Trip of 2015

Finally decided to head out on my first trip of 2015 early Saturday morning. Got on the water, Santa Rosa Sound, at 2 a.m. and the wind was terrible. Blowing out of the E/SE about 15-20mph. Started to load up and go back home. Had a newbie with me who has never been and did not want to put him through a rough trip, but we said what the heck, we are up and already out so we putted around trying to find some calm water. Finally got into a cove out of the wind and turn on the lights. Water was crystal clear and low and behold, ran one off the beach right away. Went a little farther and gigged the first one. Not long after my newbie buddy stabbed the biggest one of the night, 20 inch fish. Ended up with 6 good fish and spooked about 10 others. Had to battle the wind till sun up, but had a good time and was blessed with good fish. My newbie ended up gigging three of the six and was blown away by the experience.
