Default First time flounder gigger

As stated, im a first time flounder gigger. Recently purchase a boutwell bamboo pole, a jerrys led light, and am putting my order for a cosson gig head. Im going to be wading and didn't really realize how long the bamboo pole was. Im planning to cut it to size and was wondering if I could use the remaining piece to make another gig and if so whats the best way to go about it? Also is there a preference between barbed or all thread type gigs? Thanks

Make sure you cut it above and right next to the joint to maintain its rigidity.

Will do. On the scrap piece what glue works best with bamboo and say a wood dowel. Was planning on screwing and glueing in a wood dowel into the bamboo then adding a gig head to it somehow.
