Default Where the pomps at?!?!

Tried several spots lately (mainly up and down pickens ) with fleas and shrimp but all I seem to get into is tons of lady fish. At least they're fun to catch but I'd like to have some fun and have dinner too! Oh well, guess all you can do is keep trying.

what kind of rigs are u using...mono or braided for your main line ...#test...fluoro, swivels?..some jewls maybe?> switch set ups till u figure them out...landed 4 today (NB)...on 10lb fluoro (about 5' long) doulbe loop , 17# clear mono main line with a 3oz sinker...naked..no jewerly on the hooks, no swivel either...and small fleas. There are small medium and large and XXL fleas out there right now...throw back the big ones (full of eggs) and keep the small ones enough to match the hook (circle hook silver #1) Good luck. my surf rods are 12 and 14'ers

I was hittin em hard two weeks ago and then it's been slow the last few times. I use a 12' and 10' surf rod with 17# mono mainline on both. I make my own double drop rigs with 1/0 kahle gold hooks and 15# floro. If anything goes on its a 3/4" or less flea, add on wise either nothing or a chartreuse floater. If I have number 10 swivels I'll use them but often go without. If I'm really feeling gung-ho I'll even paint my weights white. I guess it's just my turn to be skunked for a little but that won't keep me outta the water!

Hey YoungGun,
I think it has been pretty slow the last week or two. They are still around, it just seems you have to be in the right spot at the right time. It's still a lot of fun looking for them!

Yep! I really like tryin new things so I've set a new goal the past few weeks of snagging a cobia in the surf. Tough buggers to get but I've gotten close several times now. Something to keep me busy while I'm waitin on some pomp strikes

Haha. I've been doing the same thing the last couple of weeks. I even took the fins off a small hard head and let it soak, hoping for a cobia. I think it isn't easy, but plan on figuring it out this year, and using what I learn next year.

Where do you normally fish at? It'd be awesome to meet another one of the "crazy" folks out there tryin to prove others wrong! All I've got so far ate some of the biggest rays I've ever caught and a few spit hooks.

I fish in Navarre. Usually number 7 or 8 crossover. I try to fish a couple of afternoons a week, and the weekend. This weekend I have company coming in and are going offshore, so ot sure if I will be able to surf fish. Where do you fish? I wouldn't mind trying some new places.

I fish about four times a week now that classes are over and I usually fish from pensacola pass at ft Pickens all the way down to portofino. Just really depends on what the surf is like and where I can grab a spot
