First time posting but have been following PFF for some time now and can't get enough. Now I just need to move closer cause one trip a year just doesn't cut it!! After several days of lots of lady fish mixed with some hardtails, whiting, and a couple pomps we hit the right school of trout. Hour before sunset and standing on first sandbar between the three of us we were catching trout almost every cast. Ended up keeping 12 but returned several barely legal and I had two break off! Here's my question. I'm using 30 lb power pro uni knot to 25lb mono. And had two instance where the mono snapped in two. Second time I knew the leader had some nicks and needed to be changed next cast fish on ripping drag big time snap! Lost my second spook! Btw the super spook jr bone color recommended by several on PFF was my fav. I will post some pics once I can locate my phone charger.

The second lure I lost was the red and white super spook which I didn't like as much. The jr was a little easier to work and seemed to match what they were after a ill better.

Must have had some nicks on the line for good. I use 8 lb test with 12 lb flouro and hardly ever have a break off. Hardly ever! But I aint catching lady fish hardtails and Spanish either

If you downsize the line and leader a little bit you get better actio out of your lure and more strikes.

Also floro sinks so it can affect the action of a topwater.
