Default Pomps at Ft Pickens

Caught my first Pomp today out at Ft. Pickens, and I'm pretty excited! Thanks so much to OsageBow for your help and advice! It was great meeting you!

Caught a couple in a few minutes, then nothing for the rest of the evening. It was fun though. Thanks to everyone on here that got me pointed in the right direction!

Nice fish dude. If you catch any that are within the size limit they taste delicious and i highly recommend keeping them.

Heck yeah, those are some fun fish to catch. I'm watching the weather forecast with dismay for tomorrow, thinking about an early morning run to Ft Pickens or J's Beach before it rains if anyone is interested in joining?! Maybe stay to fish the tide from 1300 forward... At Fisher Belac.... that one in the picture is on the menu for tomorrows dinner. *licking lips*

They're out there really thick! Been at Pickens the past four days and haven't been skunked yet. Monday should clear up weather wise, hopefully get a chance to get more!

Anybody know how bad the rain is out there today? Thinking about going out for a bit if the rains not too heavy. Also what kinda bait is best to use out there? Was out there yesterday with shrimp and fleas and all I got was one bite. New to saltwater fishing and need some help

JV22, I was using fleas and old frozen shrimp yesterday. Caught most of my fish on the old shrimp. Bites were very sporadic and I noticed all my fish were caught on just one of my poles. I had 3 poles out but only one caught the fish. I think I had used a 15 lb invisible mono as a leader on that one pole. I normally use those pompano rigs from walmart. The ones that are the double drop rigs with the yellow floats by the hooks. However, I do change out the hooks with smaller kahle hooks. I made my own rig out of the 15lb line but it was set up exactly like those walmart rigs.
