Default Pm walk

Went for a walk along the beach with a 17mr in the blue and silver. Trying to find some reds but only ended up with lady fish and blues. Saw a small blacktop about 3-4 feet it looks liked running through the first trough. I quick hooked up a small rig on my 7'6 rod and 4k shimano. I got hooked up and he peeled about 100 yards of line. I tightened the drag and made him jump. Why he sky'd out of the water he landed on my line and I got cut off. Needless to say it was a fun walk on the beach. Sorry if it's a lame report its my first. I'll get better eventually.

Default Am Walk

Instead of making another thread Ill continue here. Went for another walk this morning same style. 7'6 rod with a 4k shimano. And I did bring a bigger rod that fits nicely in my backpack in case more sharks were running the shallower troughs. Guess what... they weren't. Seems like when ever you bring the right gear, those fish never show up. Fished from 5:20 a.m. to 8. Then the rains ran me off the beach. Saw some fish running the second sanbar, but besides that it was slow. Off course the skips jacks, blues, and hard tails. But nothing worth bragging about. Too hot now, time to catch up on some Zzzs. Tight lines.

You just throwing the hard bait or are bouncing soft plastics back to you as well?

Cory, I use both. Depending on how I'm feeling if I'm in a redfish mood or just having fun will depend on the type I throw. For fun, gotchas will get you just about anything. For reds, mirrodines work well for me plus swimbaits all white in the 5in and 6in inch. Hope this helps.

Tight lines

It does. Thank you.

I've stuck with the smaller (3") soft plastics and done well for flounder.

I've thrown hard twitch baits and done alright, but I haven't dedicated much time to them which is odd, as up here I throw a Rapala at least half the time for bass.

I certainly appreciate your insight.
