Default Okaloosa Beach

Hello, I am heading down in 2 weeks for the yearly pilgrimage to my future home. Anyone fishing Okaloosa beach this week? How is the grass? I was there last year in later July and it was horrid.. I usually run braid and that was a bad idea last year. Anyhow, I just want to know if I should spool up Mono instead of braid for this trip?

Thanks!

Okaloosa Island is basically unfishable.. Grass everywhere, dead fish floating everywhere else.. If your headed that way, go fish the end of the pier or over in Destin somewhere.

I had about the same in Navarre. No weed when we got there but somewhere through the night it moved in. 6 baits soaking all night and only one short run. Packed up in the middle of a storm which was over by the time we got all the rigs in, and got the weed off....

I've noticed that east of the pass it's nice and clear.
I had something rip off my gold spoon yesterday(Sunday) morning, leader and all.
A few baby reds and trout with a little pomp running the shore.
Not sure what got me, but my line was frayed 2 feet up, and that was my last spoon.
I only got to fish about 40 min between running and hiding in a pavilion due to lighting.
