Default No Luck A'tall

I've been trying to get the kids on a shark while surf fishing. I've been to multiple locations and during multiple time of the day/night. Thus far, we've been skunked. I have used mullet guts, squid and Bonita chunks. My gut tells me the water temps are still too cool for much action but I'm not sure. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? Not looking for any "honey hole" locations but trying to keep the kids interested and not bore them to death. Kids who hunt and fish can't afford drugs.

Are you casting or kayaking baits out? How big of baits are you using? Mullet "guts", squid and bonita chunks all seem like small baits. The young of the year sharks are not here yet but big ones sure are. Use an entire bonita, jack, or mackerel. Kayak the bait out, if only one rod out beyond the sand bar. If three, one beyond the bar, one on the bar and one inside the bar.

The best bait will be something you catch out of the surf you are fishing in. My second choice would be mullet from the fish market, not the tackle shop. If you are casting, invest some time into learning to read the surf, it can make all the difference. I can tell you for a fact that there are plenty of sharks around right now.
