Default Ever Used Skates for Sharking?

Hey guys,

After about 10 years of being stationed in Texas, I finally made my way back to the panhandle. I am a veteran shark fisherman, but have fished a total of 1 time here in the Navarre area (basically with snoopy rods with my in-laws). So my question is regarding using skates for sharking. I caught a few skates, and I know I have had success catching 6-7 footers on stingrays, but I have never tried to use skates for shark fishing. I also can't find anything online regarding the subject. I was considering yaking these skates 600 or so yards offshore.

Has anyone ever had success with skate as shark bait in this area?

You can use them, but I usually have better luck with bloody fish like bonito

Stingrays are my go to bait! Skates should work fine.

I've never seen a dinner plate sized ray sit longer than 1/2 hour off of Orange Beach at dusk or later.
