Default 6/17 Ft. Morgan

Hit it at daylight yesterday morning. My original intention was to try and catch a flounder or a trout. Started with the Rip-N-Slash. Hooked a couple Ladyfish early and then managed to hook a large ray with it. We had us a standoff. He wasn't coming on the beach and I wasn't giving up a $10 twitchbait. I finally won and the hook pulled. Switched over to bucktail jigs and soft plastics with no luck.

I took one rod rigged for pompano, etc. as a backup plan and set it while fooling with flounder baits. Caught 2 keeper pompano and a small mess of whiting in short order.

As I was about to pack it in a guy walks by about 100 feet and catches a flounder first cast. Here he comes. He needs a tape measure and I really needed to know what he was throwing. He caught 2 more just outside the sandbar while I was modifying a pompano rig into a double flounder rig. I was fishing the wrong side of the bar.

I didn't catch any flounder but I learned a thing or two which is always good. Dad really wanted a stuffed flounder for Father's Day, so I did what any good son would do and sent him to Billy's Seafood! I'll be stuffing flounder later today. Happy Father's Day ya'll!

Nice report. How was the surf over there? It was choppy to calming on the Baldwin county side.

He was using a double rig with a 4" mullet (probably Gulp) about 10"-12" above a bucktail jig rigged with same mullet.

I had some loony jigs, 4" Zoom Salty Super Flukes and a few almost famous Grouperking Pompano rigs which made a close imitation.

Those rigs can easily be changed over by eliminating the bottom loop (or swivel) and changing the bottom hook to any jig head. Beads optional.
