Default 3/20/2011 Skunk (Again!)

Went two parking lots down into the National Seashore past Portofino's today with the family. Not a single bite. Two days in a row about three miles apart. Funny, i was only getting the female sand fleas yesterday. Today, only the males. So yeah, report is that i caught nothing. Maybe next weekend...

I hear yah. Took the boys out Saturday and didn't get a bite, but the boys loved it. I remember when i was seven and didn't care how cold the water was.

I was also east of Portofino today and nothing to show for it, something kept stealing my shrimp but not sure what it was.

I hear ya boys! I spent 4 hrs in my yak yesterday and 2 on the beach. I spent 2 in the yak today and 4 on the beach. Beautiful water, changing tide, 2 dozen live shrimp and a dozen fleas yesterday, 2 dozen fleas today. The only reward for my diligence, to very small Spanish on Clark spoon yesterday.

Guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching, right?

Wow, tough fishing. Karma's coming around so hang in there. I'm going to give it a try for a few days on break this week -might expect zip.

Soon, the fishing will explode. I spent 8 hours on the beach on Saturday using the run and gun technique. Got nothing except a sunburn till around 3 PM. Managed one 19 inch pomp at the fork, and eventually walked into about 4 large schools of bull reds. Caught 5 out of 8 hook-ups on a 7 ft spinning rod w/braid. I was running up and down the beach like a mad man. The reds were a blast to catch.

I was at Navarre today from about noon till 4:00. Nothing. Not a bite and no sand fleas. I stopped at Broxson's on the way and got a cup of frozen fleas so at least I had some bait.
There were a couple of guys fishing down from me and they didn't catch anything either.
