Default 10 Cats in 30 min

Down here on Pcola Beach on vacation for a couple of weeks......did good on the cats using shrimp, as I couldn't seem to keep them off the Line. I was casting out just about as far as I could and everything in between with a 10ft surf rig. Just looking for some advice on how I could catch something else!!! Should I be getting the bait out further (wade out then cast)? Or will I eventually catch something else depending on weather changes, different bait...etc?

Thanks

+1 sandfleas and LYs if you have a cast net to catch a few in the surf. If you catch a cat off the bat. Stop casting and move in either direction.

I was surf fishing catching Whiting, blues and Pomps and no more than 30 feet away a guy was hooking up on cats every cast using the same bait.

Move!!! When a school of cats settle in the area it doesn't really matter what bait you're using. It's also just that time of year. Same thing happened to me last week with sand fleas.

You can switch to artificials like spoons, kastmasters, spinners or jerkbaits like the Mirrolurse or badunkadonks. We did pretty well catching specs and blues, but also got hit by a good bit of lady fish too. At least the ladies fight is more fun than cats.
